Mural Painted For Cross County Center's 70 Years
State arts council funds the 1950s-inspired work in Yonkers North Lot.

Seventy years ago, Cross County Center opened its doors in Yonkers. A new mural now marks that milestone with colorful, 1950s-inspired imagery. The work occupies a visible spot in the North Lot, positioned between the Zara and Shake Shack storefronts.
Artist Andrey Kravtsov, who performs under the name Key Detail, painted the piece. The design features vibrant colors and patterns meant to evoke the memories of generations who shopped at the center. The imagery serves as a visual tribute to the mall's role as a gathering place for the Westchester community.
The project arrived through CHARM, or Cultivating Havens for the Arts through Regional Murals. Governor Kathy Hochul launched this statewide initiative. The New York State Council on the Arts administers the program to bring public art to various locations across the state.
New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins recently attended the unveiling. She joined representatives from ArtsWestchester and Cross County Center for the event. The gathering recognized the property's long history as a local institution.
Shoppers can view the completed work immediately in the North Lot. The mural stands as a permanent addition to the site. It joins the physical landscape of the center where it has operated for seven decades.
