The 2026-27 UEFA Women's Champions League enters its third matchday on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The league phase is now halfway complete, leaving four rounds of play before the knockout playoffs begin in February. Current standings show only one team with a perfect record, while others face pressure to improve their positions before the season progresses.
Barcelona, the reigning title holders, have scored 11 goals in their first two matches. The club defeated Paris FC 5-2 on Matchday 1 and then beat Roma 6-0 on Matchday 2. These results place Barcelona at the top of the table with maximum points. Other teams have mixed results, with some clubs accepting split records and others seeking points to keep their campaigns alive.
The club recently received multiple awards at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in London. Barcelona was named best club of the year. Manager Pere Romeu won women's coach of the year, Vicky Lopez received best young talent, and Cata Coll was named best goalkeeper. Alexia Putellas, who now plays for London City Lionesses, won the women's Ballon d'Or. CBS Sports writer Sandra Herrera noted that the award recognized her performance during her final season with FC Barcelona, as voting covered the period from August 2025 to July 2026.
Wednesday's schedule includes three matches at 1:45 p.m. Eastern. Chelsea plays Roma, Bayern Munich faces Real Madrid, and Servette hosts OH Leuven. The afternoon window at 4 p.m. Eastern features Arsenal against Benfica and OL Lyonnes against Inter.
Thursday, Oct. 29, brings additional fixtures. Austria Wien plays Juventus and Paris FC meets Hacken at 1:45 p.m. Eastern. At 4 p.m. Eastern, HB Koge faces Barcelona and Manchester City plays Paris Saint-Germain. Barcelona's attack includes standouts such as Lopez, Claudia Pina, Kerolin, and Ewa Pajor, who have contributed to the team's strong start.
Other European football events occur this week. Serie A features matches on Wednesday, including AC Milan against Bologna and Venezia against Inter, both at 1:30 p.m. Eastern. An EFL Cup tie between Manchester City and Brighton is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Eastern the same day.
The next matchday for the Women's Champions League is not yet scheduled in the immediate window, but the four remaining rounds will determine the final standings for the knockout playoffs in February.
