Over 6,000 connectors and plug-ins are now available to Anthropic’s newest enterprise-focused tool, a significant expansion that underscores the company’s push into the crowded AI assistant market. By linking to this extensive ecosystem, the developer aims to differentiate its offering from purely personal companions, instead positioning the product as a robust operational partner for professionals and small businesses.

The competitive landscape for AI agents has intensified rapidly. While the market was previously dominated by general-purpose chatbots, the focus has shifted toward autonomous systems that can execute tasks on a user’s behalf. Anthropic enters this fray with a specific strategy: catering to business workflows rather than everyday personal errands. This approach places the new tool in direct competition with offerings from major tech firms that have recently launched similar business-oriented agents.

The development of this specific agent followed a broader industry trend observed over the past year. As large language models matured, companies began recognizing that simple conversation was no longer sufficient for commercial users. The market moved toward agents capable of background processing and complex data management. Anthropic’s entry aligns with this pivot, moving away from the initial hype of general AI chat toward practical, automated productivity solutions.

The new application is built upon the Claude Opus 5.5 model, which serves as the engine for its operational capabilities. Unlike personal assistants that might handle booking tickets or running errands, this tool is designed for professional use cases. It is not intended to manage a user’s personal schedule or perform visible browser tasks in real-time. Instead, it focuses on building daily briefings, creating data dashboards, and suggesting strategic actions based on the user’s existing digital footprint.

A key feature of the system is its ability to work in the background. It utilizes its own virtual machine to complete tasks while the user continues with other activities. The agent will only interrupt the user when it requires specific approval for sensitive steps. This design aims to minimize friction, allowing the AI to handle routine operations autonomously while escalating only critical decisions to the human operator.

Security and data privacy are central to the new release. Anthropic introduced a specialized classifier that scans every message to prevent the leakage of sensitive information. By default, the system is programmed to decline requests that ask for credit card numbers or government identification documents. This layered approach to data handling is intended to build trust with business users who are often more cautious about sharing proprietary information with AI tools.

Financial transactions are supported through integrations with Stripe’s Link digital wallet and Shopify’s Shop Pay. This allows the agent to make online purchases on behalf of the user. However, the company has set clear boundaries on its financial authority. The agent is not permitted to trade securities or move money between different accounts. Any payment action requires explicit user approval, ensuring that the AI acts as an executor of pre-authorized tasks rather than an autonomous financial manager.

The launch follows a pattern seen among Anthropic’s rivals. Meta recently released a version of its Muse assistant tailored for small businesses, featuring connections to various professional apps. Similarly, OpenAI’s Dots agent has a distinct business slant, emphasizing integration with professional tools. By focusing on the small business and professional segment, Anthropic is joining a growing cohort of companies that believe the next phase of AI adoption will be driven by workflow automation rather than personal interaction.

Availability is currently limited to a research preview. The application is accessible on iOS and Android devices, as well as on the web through the Claude.ai platform. Access is restricted to Pro and Max tier customers who must join a waitlist to gain entry. This phased rollout allows the company to manage load and gather feedback before a broader public release, a standard strategy for new AI products aiming to balance innovation with stability.
