Twelve homemade Mummy Brownies require only a few basic pantry items and a 35-degree Fahrenheit oven.

The recipe from Pretty Providence calls for one cup and two tablespoons of flour, two-thirds cup of packed brown sugar, and an equal amount of white sugar. Mix those dry ingredients with three-quarters teaspoon of salt, one teaspoon of baking powder, and one-third cup of unsweetened cocoa. Add two eggs, one-quarter cup of water, two-thirds cup of oil, and one teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir in one cup of semi sweet chocolate chips until just combined.

Pour the batter into a greased 9 by 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out mostly clean. Cool the brownies in the freezer. While they chill, melt 12 ounces of white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl using 30 second increments. Stir between each interval until smooth.

Cut the cooled brownies into 12 rectangles. Pour the melted chocolate into a small ziplock bag and cut a small opening in one corner. Squeeze the chocolate onto the brownies in a back and forth zigzag motion. Immediately press one of the 32 candy eyeballs onto the wet chocolate. Place the finished treats in the fridge to set.

A second recipe from Culinary.net yields 36 chocolate covered pumpkin pretzels. This batch uses three-quarters cup of orange candy melts and a 16 ounce bag of mini pretzel twists. Melt the candy in a microwave in 15 second intervals, stirring until smooth. Dip 36 pretzels one at a time. Tap the excess chocolate against the side of the bowl.

Lay the dipped pretzels on a sheet of parchment paper. Break apart enough remaining pretzels to equal one quarter cup. Place one mini green coated chocolate candy on top of each orange pretzel to form a leaf. Add a broken pretzel piece to serve as the stem. Let the treats harden on the counter for 30 minutes or in a refrigerator or freezer for 5 to 10 minutes.

Both recipes skip prepackaged store items. The brownies require 35 minutes of baking time. The pretzels require 30 minutes of counter time to set. The total ingredient list includes flour, sugar, cocoa, eggs, oil, chocolate chips, candy melts, pretzels, and candy eyeballs.
