NFC East Teams Go 0-8 in Two Weeks Ahead of Monday Showdown
Dallas and Philadelphia meet at 2-4 as the division posts a winless stretch not seen since 1970.

Four teams in the NFC East went winless in the last two weeks, a statistical anomaly that has not occurred in a division since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, both with records of 2-4, meet Monday night in Philadelphia to compete for a share of the division lead. The New York Giants currently hold the top spot at 3-2-1.
The Eagles enter the game on a four-game losing streak, their first of that length since 2020. Their offense has scored only 58 points across those four defeats. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is on injured reserve due to blood clots and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. Tanner McKee, who spent the first two years of his career as a backup, will start at the position.
McKee’s previous two starts came after the Eagles had already secured a playoff berth. Last week’s loss to Carolina marked his first meaningful start. He had only two days of first-team practice before that game. This week, he has a full week to prepare with first-year offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. McKee stated that he feels he has a good preparation process and plans to meet with the coaching staff more frequently rather than working alone.
The Eagles’ running back room is thin. Saquon Barkley has missed more than two games with a hamstring injury, though a return is possible. Backups Will Shipley and Tank Bigsby are also injured. Carson Steele, signed off the practice squad last week, suffered a shoulder injury against Carolina. Dameon Pierce was the only runner to carry the ball in that game, totaling 35 yards. Dallas allows 4.7 yards per carry this season.
The Cowboys face their own challenges. Their defense ranks 30th in the league under first-year coordinator Christian Parker. On offense, the team scored only 29 points in its last two losses, including a 23-13 defeat to Green Bay. Dak Prescott has started consecutive games scoring fewer than 20 points for the first time since 2019.
Owner Jerry Jones spoke at the NFL’s annual fall meeting on Wednesday. He said he does not expect to make further coaching changes this season. Jones described the hiring of defensive assistant Mike Pettine this month as strategic and unique.
Several individual records are in play. Javonte Williams is the second Cowboys player with seven rushing touchdowns through six games, behind Emmitt Smith’s totals from 1994 and 1995. CeeDee Lamb has 48 receptions, third in the NFL and a franchise record for a six-game span. He is close to 8,000 career receiving yards. Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert needs one catch to move into third place on the team’s career receptions list.
Dallas is favored by four points. The Cowboys are 3-3 against the spread, while the Eagles are 1-5. Dallas leads the all-time series 72-58 and won the last meeting 24-21 on Nov. 23, 2025. Kickoff is at 7:15 p.m. CST on ESPN. The Eagles will play at Washington on Nov. 1, then host the Giants to finish their divisional slate.
