Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl halftime show on February 14, 2026, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The announcement, made Monday night by the NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation, marks the first time the Brooklyn-born artist has accepted the role since his company began advising the league on its entertainment presentations in 2019.
Roc Nation will executive produce the event, with Hamish Hamilton serving as director. This arrangement extends the existing partnership where Roc Nation advises the NFL on its halftime festivities. The collaboration began in 2019, a period during which Jay-Z stated he told Commissioner Roger Goodell, “If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now.”
Goodell noted that his original request when the league agreed to work with Roc Nation was for Jay-Z to perform “whenever the moment felt right to him.” Jay-Z responded to the news in a statement, describing the milestone as a continuation of a journey that began with his 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt. He characterized the appearance as thirty years of music, work, and culture being presented on what he called the world’s biggest stage.
The selection follows a recent concert tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt. Jay-Z performed three sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium, followed by sold-out dates in London and Paris. The tour concluded over the weekend at SoFi Stadium, the same venue where he will now perform for the NFL. Recent shows featured guests including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Too $hort, and his daughter Blue Ivy, who played piano on several tracks.
Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, has received 25 Grammy Awards and 89 nominations. He was the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017 and joined the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. Roc Nation, which he founded in 2008, manages artists and athletes. The Super Bowl halftime show has received multiple Emmy nominations in recent years, with Bad Bunny’s 2024 performance winning a record seven awards.
The performer’s catalog includes albums such as The Blueprint and The Black Album, along with hit singles like “99 Problems” and “Empire State of Mind.” His wife, Beyoncé, has previously performed at two Super Bowls. Jay-Z is also a four-time Emmy winner and co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records.
