Google is deploying a new interface for the Gemini app on Android devices. The update limits the visible chat history to five entries and merges previously separated settings menus into one location. This change is reaching users through a server-side rollout rather than a standard app store update.

The redesign alters the navigation drawer layout. The search function has moved to the top-right corner. The New chat option remains the first item in the list, followed immediately by Library. Previously, Library appeared near the bottom of the drawer. The five-item cap applies to the initial view. Users must tap a More button to access the rest of their chat history.

For subscribers to the AI Ultra plan, the expanded list includes New chat, Library, Images, Scheduled, Daily brief, Customize, Students, Videos, and Gems. This structure aims to reduce clutter in the navigation area while preserving access to core features.

Settings have also been consolidated. Google removed the split between the account menu and a separate Gemini Settings area. The account menu now handles only account switching, feedback, and help requests. A new unified Settings page opens with Manage account and Usage limits. A Preferences section follows, listing Notifications, Personal Intelligence, Avatar, Task settings, Theme, Skills, Voice, Media, Device controls, Cart and orders, and Gemini Notebook. Theme is the only new entry in this section.

The page concludes with Data & privacy and Get support sections. Data & privacy includes Import memory, Contact info from your devices, Gemini Apps Activity, Your public links, and the Privacy Help Hub. The Get support section lists Help, Report a problem, About, and Updates.

This Android update follows a similar release on iOS, macOS, and the web app last week. Those platforms received the changes alongside the launch of Gemini 4 Argon. The current Android rollout is reaching a wider audience as part of a broader app update cycle.

Other recent changes to the Gemini app include the availability of Gemini Notebook as a Connected App. Free users now default to Auto models as the app adds thinking levels. A new Map tool has also been introduced, replacing the previous slash shortcut with an at symbol.
