One firefighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation following a structural fire on Friday, October 30. The incident occurred shortly after 2:45 p.m. at a two-story residence on Basalt Drive near Stafford Village Parkway, according to Stafford County Fire and Rescue officials.
Initial dispatches reported heavy flames and smoke pouring from both the front and rear of the house. Department photos show fire shooting above the roofline with thick black smoke rising into the sky. Crews launched an aggressive attack on the blaze while simultaneously searching the interior for any remaining occupants. One resident was inside when the fire started but escaped before emergency personnel arrived on the scene.
It took approximately one hour for firefighters to bring the flames under control. The fire displaced three residents, who are now receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. Post-fire images reveal extensive damage, including missing sections of the roof and exposed framing on the upper floor.
Personnel from the Fredericksburg Fire Department and Fauquier Fire and Emergency Services assisted Stafford County crews during the response. The Stafford County Fire Marshal's Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
