Apple will distribute iOS 27.2 to iPhone users next week. This release serves as the primary software update for the device, following iOS 27.1, which is restricted to the iPhone Duo.

The update extends the Dual Capture feature to Group FaceTime calls. Dual Capture debuted in iOS 27 and allows users to display front and rear camera views simultaneously. In the previous version, the feature worked only during one-on-one calls. Users can now activate the rear camera in group settings while keeping the front camera active.

Apple has also restructured the Apple Podcasts interface. The Up Next queue at the top of the Home tab is split into two distinct sections. The first section, New Episodes, replaces the previous Up Next list and displays recent releases from shows a user follows. The second section, Continue Playing, is a new addition that lists shows a listener has started but not finished.

The 9to5Mac writer noted that the old Up Next layout was cluttered. After testing the beta, the writer stated the new layout helps users track their listening habits more effectively.

User profiles are now available in the Apple TV app on iPhone. This feature previously existed only on tvOS. When users open the TV app after updating, they see a profile selection screen. This screen can be disabled so it no longer appears.

The app adjusts content recommendations based on the active profile. When a child's profile is selected, the app displays only age-appropriate series and movies from Apple. This setup keeps an adult's viewing queue separate and helps ensure children do not encounter unsuitable material on a parent's device.

The outlet reports that iOS 27.2 adds new features to six iPhone apps in total.
