A cold front crossing Colorado on Friday, Oct. 23, will end Pueblo's run of warm afternoons and push weekend rain chances higher across the southern part of the state. The system advances from the west and is expected to reach the Interstate 25 corridor through Friday and into Saturday morning.

Pueblo's Friday forecast calls for a high of 80 degrees and a low of 52, with morning temperatures starting in the 50s. Cloud breaks Friday morning were expected to give way to more cloud cover as the front approaches. The chance of rain on Pueblo's south side runs at 10% to 20% on Friday, rising substantially over the weekend. Saturday's high is forecast to reach only the 50s.

Along Interstate 25, sunshine was expected to emerge around 10 a.m. after morning clouds clear. The front could support thunderstorms farther east and a few storms along the southern portion of the interstate. Colorado Springs is forecast to reach 73 degrees Friday with a low of 47. Canon City has a forecast high of 75 and a low of 49, with rain chances at 20% to 30% and a few afternoon showers possible, though most locations are expected to stay dry. Woodland Park's forecast lists a high of 58 and a low of 39.

Monument and the surrounding Tri-Lakes area are forecast to reach 69 degrees Friday with a low of 43, followed by Saturday highs in the 50s. Walsenburg and Trinidad are expected to reach 73 and 74 degrees respectively, with lows of 49. Friday is forecast to be the warmest day in the next seven days for those southern plains locations, before weekend highs drop into the 50s.

The eastern plains could see thunderstorms return by Friday evening after a sunnier start, with afternoon temperatures in the 70s and 80s and lows in the 50s. In the mountains, forecast highs are in the 60s and lows in the 30s. Lingering moisture and flooding remain concerns in southwestern Colorado, where water levels may take time to recede.

Conditions are expected to become calmer next week, with sunshine, some partly cloudy skies and temperatures gradually warming into the 60s. The preliminary Halloween outlook calls for temperatures in the 50s and 60s and dry weather.
